Track Of The Day: By The Sea – Eveline

If your dreams had a soundtrack, Eveline would be the standout track. Light and airy and beautifully psychedelic, the Wirral band have produced an anthemic track that makes it self at home in a wonderfully poetic album. With Bill Ryder-Jones on board, the band is just going to grow from strength to strength, keep your eyes peeled for By The Sea.

We recommend that you should buy the album HERE!

We will be reviewing it for you shortly!

Track Of The Day: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – We No Who U R

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are back! And what a welcome return. One of the finest lyricists of the modern day has returned with the rather colloquially titled ‘We No Who U R’. It’s dark, atmospheric and has Nick Cave stamped all over it. He’s back.

Here’s the full press release:

We No Who U R is the first track to be taken from the upcoming Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds album Push the Sky Away [February 2013].  At the heart of Push the Sky Away is a naturalism and warmth that makes it the most subtly beautiful of all the Bad Seeds albums. The contemporary settings of myths, and the cultural references that have time-stamped Nick’s songs of the twenty-first century mist lightly through details drawn from the life he observed around his seaside home, through the tall windows on the album’s mysterious and ambiguous cover.

The songs on this album took form in a modest notebook with shellac covers over the course of almost a year. The notebook is a treasured analogue artefact but the internet is equally important to Nick: Googling curiosities, being entranced by exotic Wikipedia entries “whether they’re true or not”. These songs convey how on the internet profoundly significant events, momentary fads and mystically-tinged absurdities sit side-by-side and question how we might recognise and assign weight to what’s genuinely important.

Push the Sky Away was produced by Nick Launay and recorded at La Fabrique, a recording studio based in a 19th Century mansion in the South of France, where the walls of the main studio are lined with an immense collection of classical vinyl.

We No Who U R sets this album in our time; we’re living with the consequences of actions and innovations that seemed so progressive in the industrial era. There’s a calm assessment of the gravity of the situation, and humility. This whole album has a generosity of spirit that’s established here by a children’s choir singing “we know there’s no need to forgive.”

We No Who U R is  available  from 3rd December. The track comes as a download with every pre-order album purchase via or iTunes. We No Who U R will also be available as a single download from all digital retailers.

Push the Sky Away, the fifteenth studio album by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds will be released in February 2013 on CD/ Ltd CD-DVD / Vinyl / Digital.

Track Of The Day: Dead Sons – Hangman

‘Remember remember, the 5th of November’ is how Dead Sons announced their latest single ‘Hangman’, and it is certainly not one to forget about! Taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘The Hollers and The Hymns’, the single represents a real coming of age for the band. Their honed sinful indie sound is more US desert than UK city, it’s menacing and delightfully monopolising and is epitomised within ‘Hangman’.

‘The Hollers and The Hymns’ has not received and official release date but we are sure it is on the horizon, we can’t wait any longer.

Track Of The Day: The Hazy Eyed Smiles – Love Rages

Potentially the Track Of The Day with the longest title and potentially one of the best. What can we say about The Hazy Eyed Smiles? They have a solid indie sound with n edge of psychedelia – a sound not easy to produce – yet they hit it off nicely. This song is just a mere drop in the ocean, their Sound Cloud page should take up the rest of your day.

Track Of The Day: I Am Giant – Purple Heart

I Am Giant have announced their new single ‘Purple Heart’ will be released on September 10th2012. Currently winning support on BBC Radio One as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’ as well as on XFM, Kerrang! Radio and Q Radio, ‘Purple Heart’ is the first single taken from the band’s forthcoming album ‘The Horrifying Truth’, released this October.

In what is proving to be a mammoth month for the London based 4-piece, I Am Giant have just played three shows as support to rock legend Slash on his Australian tour, before returning to the UK for their headline tour this September, including a single release show for ‘Purple Heart’ at The Garage in London on September 13th.

With an impressive 56,000+ loyal fans on Facebook and over 1,000 international members of their ‘IAG Army’, I Am Giant have amassed a huge worldwide following with four #1 rock singles and a #2 album in New Zealand, music videos featuring skate and surfing icons Tony Hawk and Kelly Slater, a UK tour with Taking Back Sunday, performances at Big Day Out in Auckland and Sydney, opening for Stone Temple Pilots in Singapore, touring throughout Asia several times, and playing the prestigious Viper Room and Mercury Lounge in the US.

This October sees the highly anticipated European release of I Am Giant’s debut album ‘The Horrifying Truth’, recorded with acclaimed producer Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect).

On ‘The Horrifying Truth’, I Am Giant have bound together what they describe as “a collection of stories, thoughts, observations and exploration” into a cohesive and hard-hitting explosion of sound and melody. From the first song and forthcoming single ‘Purple Heart’ to closer ‘After The War’, the sharp lyrical themes draw the listener into the band’s growing awareness of mortality and loss of innocence.

And yet, I Am Giant have produced an album fuelled by youthful idealism, not despite but because of the hard-learned lessons that are a reality of modern life. ‘The Horrifying Truth’ is pure, unadulterated rock, with its heart on its sleeve and an unquenchable fire in its soul.

I Am Giant release the single ‘Purple Heart’ on September 10th. Their debut album ‘The Horrifying Truth’ is released this October.
